Good. I am glad they did it. Finally, the NCAA has embarrassed itself at just the right time. The goofy hillbillies running the coaching turnstile at Alabama, in their perpetual effort to find a way to regain lost glory, blinged out their latest coach, Nick Saban (roughly $32M over 8 years), so much that Congress is starting to take notice.

The importance of academia at the collegiate level of sports is something that is as unheard of as the old Delaware Wing-T offense from years ago. Today, especially in football, coaches want players who are 'game smart' on the field. But what about being book smart in the classroom? Isn't that just as important for the college experience as a bowl game? BASN's Gregory Moore thinks so despite what others may say and writes about academic excellence needed by collegiate athletes to achieve greatness both on and off the field with this week's column.

In its latest attempt to show how it is conscious of gender-equity in Title IX compliance, the CWA has hijacked Title IX and has misappropriated its original intent.
