CIAA Announces Preseason Hoop Honors

CHARLOTTE -- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) held its 2009-2010 Basketball Press Conference Thursday at the Charlotte Convention Center. 

The conference was also available for viewing live via the CIAA website (www.TheCIAA.com), courtesy of the Fayetteville State Sports Information Department.

Thursday's meeting included the release of the Preseason All-CIAA Team, as selected by the Basketball Coaches Association and the announcement of the Predicted Order of Finish, also determined by that group.

The Johnson C. Smith men's and women's basketball programs -- both defending CIAA Tournament champions -- were predicted to finish first in the Western Division.

In the Eastern Division, the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State and the Panthers of Virginia Union were tabbed as the preseason favorites.

Both of this year's preseason All-CIAA squads includes a player from nearly every team, showing that this year's competition will be fairly intense across the conference.
