The Golden Tigers (11-0) of Tuskegee University are the new number one team in this week's BoxToRow.com/BASN HBCU Top 10 Poll. Last week, behind Jacary Atkinson's 279 passing yards and four touchdowns to lead Tuskegee to a 64-58 win over Alabama State in the Turkey Day Classic. Atkinson also added 159 rushing yards as TU won their fourth straight and improved 600-332-51 overall in 114 seasons of college football. The SIAC champions will now meet Virginia Union (9-2) this Saturday in Pioneer Bowl X in Columbia S.C. The Golden Tigers got six first-place votes. Number two Delaware State (10-2) got the other two first-place votes. The rest of the top five include a trio of 8-3 clubs: Grambling State at number three, Southern at number four, and Norfolk State at number five. Both DSU and GSU dropped one notch in this week's poll following losses last weekend. The Hornets fell 44-7 to in-state rival Delaware in a first-round Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) playoff game. The Tigers, who will meet Jackson State in the SWAC Championship Game on December 15th, lost 22-13 to Southern in the Bayou Classic. It was the first classic since the death in April of former Grambling coach Eddie Robinson, one of the central figures in the Classic's creation. The remainder of the poll includes Jackson State (7-4) at number six, Prairie View (7-3) is seventh, Albany State (8-3) at eight, Alabama A&M (8-3) is number nine, and Virginia Union sits at number ten.
