Baseball makes pitch for Olympics

After having been part of Olympic lineups since 1992, baseball was excluded from the slate for the 2012 Games in London. It is seeking reinstatement for the 2016 Olympics, which will be held in Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro or Tokyo.

Some of those early swimming pioneers were honored at a community breakfast back on Friday, May 22nd at Embassy Suites in Cary as part of the National Black Heritage Championship Swim Meet Memorial Day weekend.

The mother of a U.S. Olympic speed skater has filed suit against Google demanding the company delete an alleged defamatory blog post published by a deceased blogger on Blogspot.

The national news media paid little attention to the games in Beijing. The 16-hour time difference and the lack of Americans winning medals could have been a major factor.

Samsung is currently sponsoring the internet broadcasting of the 2008 Beijing Summer Games, but it not enough. More companies should support these talented athletes. Also the American public should have an opportunity to witness the feats of these athletic accomplishments.

It’s amazing that this country wants our athletes to represent the country in the Olympics with class, dignity and compete at a high level, yet we show no class, dignity and care to so many in China and Darfur who have their human rights violated daily.
