The
good news is that football is on its way (actually it’s been here since
July, but my Cable system won’t provide me with my Canadian Football
League fix -- BOOOOOO Time Warner Cable!)
The
bad news is that we’re gonna hear another season’s worth of bullshit
from the talking heads who serve up a main course of disrespect along
with a bitter side dish of fantasy.
For
years now the concept of “best man plays” has been buried by
disinformation, misinformation and pure-d propaganda; and always
centered at the most important position in all of American sports -- the
quarterback.
Because
unless that quarterback looks a certain way, he can’t possibly be an
NFL quarterback. If he’s white and can run, he’ll be “praised for his
intelligence to avoid the rush and show his mobility.” If he’s Black and can run, he’ll be criticized for “not standing in the pocket” or “showing a lack of patience.” Whenever
a compliment is given, it always seems left-handed in nature (“he’s
letting his natural ability take over”). Suffice to say, it can be a
wearing on the psyche to expend so much energy -- to perpetuate so big a
lie. Lets
us not forget it wasn’t that long ago that the National Football League
placed unspoken quotas on the number of Black players that could be on
the field at one time; and you definitely couldn’t be a quarterback on
offense or defense. If
weren’t for the sheer force of talent coming from the American Football
League (i.e. Marlin Briscoe at QB, Willie Lanier at middle linebacker)
the NFL wouldn’t have relented on their modus operandi…
But it is a new season, and in The Deuce & Dime it is time to separate Black from fiction (at least from the QB position) by providing real facts and real analysis about those selected, traded or trick-bagged into playing something other than the spot they should be playing; along with predictions for who does what to whom (in 25 words or less per team).
Over
the next week, the following will list the QBs for every NFL team; with
special footnotes for the Brothas to better understand why the NFL
really does not want the Black QB to be a symbol of success (stats
include starting won-loss record, touchdown/interception ratio,
completion percentage, career passer rating, post-season record and any
awards given.

Yesterday, we examined the NFC North. Today, we look at the NFC West.

1.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS – It’s your division to lose, Mike.
2.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS – It’s your division to alibi, Pete.
3.
ARIZONA CARDINALS – Ken, listen to me when I tell ya – the boy (Leinart) ain’t
shit!!!
4.
ST. LOUIS RAMS – Book it - WR Brandon Gibson will be a star this year; Philly
should never have traded you…
THE
QBs:
CARDINALS: DEREK ANDERSON (16-18, 46/45, 52.9, 62.7, one
Pro Bowl); Matt Leinart (7-10, 14/20, 57.1, 70.8) Max Hall & John Skelton
are the listed backups.
RAMS: SAM BRADFORD (hasn’t done a fuckin’ thing yet)
A.J. Feeley (7-8, 27/29, 55.9, 69.6) Thaddeus Lewis and Keith Null are the
listed backups.
SEAHAWKS: MATT HASSELBECK (63-54, 164/111, 60.1, 83.3,
4-5, 3 Pro Bowls); J.P. Losman (10-23, 33/34, 59.2, 75.6) Charlie Whitehurst is
the other listed backup.
49ERS: ALEX SMITH (16-24, 37/43, 56.3, 69.2) David
Carr (23-56, 65/81, 59.8, 75.2) Nate Davis & Jarrett Brown are the listed
backups.
Overview:
The 49ers will take away from the East Coast bias in a big way this season as
Frank Gore, Patrick Willis and company will stomp their way through the Mild,
Mild West. Alex Smith has the best tight end this side of Tony Gonzalez in
Vernon Davis and the progress of backup Nate Davis may force David Carr to head
elsewhere. Hasselbeck is okay, but his analyst brother Tim ain’t shit with his
scrub ass, disrespecting Black quarterbacks…
The
effort to protect Leinart and not say he is a bust when Vince Young’s win
percentage of 67% jumps out at anyone who can read. Who is the real fucking
bust?
The
old standard was three seasons being a fair amount of time to properly assess
whether a player would make it or not. Well five fucking years later, Leinart
is being mollycoddled by the Muthafuckin’ Mouse and league talking heads who
seek to protect him because he’s the right color.
Leon
Washington will show everyone in Seattle what a true star tailback is; and piss
off the Jets while doing it; as long as Pete Carroll’s duplicitous ass doesn’t
screw him out of a starting spot.
Finally, I will be very surprised if Bradford does not help Brandon Gibson become a 75 - 90 catch receiver in his first season (well, likely the other way around). Unlike a lot of prima donna ball catchers, Gibson left a Washington State team that lost all their games his senior season. He’s tough, smart, tenacious – and knowing what it’s like to lose will only intensify his desire to win at the next level; Gibson will be one of the very few who will more games in his first full pro season – than he did in college.
