 ABOUT THE HOST
Roland Rogers

Roland Rogers has been CEO of BlackAthlete Sports Network, LLC for the past 8 years.

Tired of the way blacks in sports have been mistreated, misinterpreted, scorned and muted by the general sports media decided against all odds to create a presence in cyberspace unencumbered by the normal constraints of being censored by institutions and governmental beauracracies designed a web presence to become the definitive source for information about and for black athletes globally through the cultural filters of a black editorial board.

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Roland moved to the Harlem section of New York City where he studied politics and history and earn a living developing real estate while envisioning his dream of equality on the playing fields of sports and life.

"Sports has been the universal currency which has allowed BASN to rise above the normal accepted and prescribed formula of sports reporting to give our fan base a wider perspective in evaluating what other sports sites take for granted while misinforming the general public," Rogers said.

"With Jackie Robinson's historic crossing the color barrier in baseball over 60 years ago and the advent of the Internet, an opportunity was created to expand the debate of racial exclusion in media, to inform, empower those lower on social food chain and provide them with a background and backdrop to give athletes and people of color a track to run on where none existed before".
